Can people who are not Hindu attend a Hindu funeral?

My neighbors are Indian and recently the father of the family died. I know their religion is Hinduism - not sure if they're having a traditional Hindu funeral or not (they dressed normal, in black and white attire so I'm guessing its not traditional?) but I was just wondering would it be okay to go to the funeral just to pay my respects? Or do they not allow outsiders to the funeral? All I want is to pay my respects to the father and the rest of the family since we're good friends with them.

I attended one. My co-worker and friend, went through the death of her mother. I attended the funeral. It is an experience I will never forget. I wore, as is tradition, basically black. I don’t really remember what the family wore….I was caught up in the honest pain expressed during the event.
If you choose to go….you won’t regret it.

I’m Indian but not Hindu, but I think you can, because when my parents go to a function, they where indian clothing whereas everyone else wears black & whites. Of course you can go.
