dancing in a sari/saree?

I'm going to wear a sari/saree to prom. How would I drape it so that I have the most freedom to move but also keep it tightly on me?

Also, what kinds of dances can you do in a saree/sari?

wearing a sari is much like wearing a long skirt. it’s not restrictive. Just drape the saree in the normal way. make sure you don’t put it around yourself too tightly the first time around. once you’ve put the sari around your waist the first time, before putting any pleats or anything, just squat or move your legs apart to make sure you have enough room. then continue with the rest of the drape. the ESSENTIAL thing here is to pin the saree properly. that way you know it won’t come off no matter how much you dance. Also, pinning the pallu on your shoulder will give you the most freedom, rather than carrying it on your hand. you could also try gujarati style. i used to wear that alot in my teens, it’s just easier to handle.

    good luck!

Exactly correct. Do wear it enough below your navel low on your hips. For dancing it is the best draping style of saree.
