How does a short petite person wear a sari correctly?

I've tried all I could but it just looks so baggy around my hips and waist. I think there's just too much fabric for my small stature. How do I wrap a traditional style sari and make it fitted at my hips where the pleats are? The top of the petticoat skirt is too buldgey. Is there any way to make it look as snug a fit as the models who wear them? Does it depend what fabric type?

you need to know how to wrap it first…it has nothing to do with height, but everything to do with how well you wrap it.

You need to drape it properly. First round wrap keep a little loose for easy movement of your legs. Second round wrap quiet normal. Get a petticoat of thin fabric e.g voile and wear it enough below your navel where you feel comfortable. Gently tuck folds in pettocoat then pull pallu tight enough to expose correct shape of your hips and (brooch) pin it on left side of your blouse. You will look smart and elegant.
