As long as you wear them correctly no one will be offended…

If I saw you in a correctly pleated and wrapped sari or had a salwaar kameez on, I would be so happy to see you embrace our culture like that!

Good luck! If you want to know how to correctly pleat and wrap a sari, look here:

No go ahead. wear it… apply vermillion on your forehead to give the authentic look…
We will feel proud to see that…. :-)

No, you won’t offend anybody. Indian ladies are proud when they see a foreigner wearing one of their garb. (I was always complimented on wearing a shalwar or chooridar; never wore a sari though).
One important thing : make sure your wear your sari the correct way. Let one of your friends show you how to wear it as….there are different ways to wear a sari. The way it is worn shows the cast you come from or/and the place you come from e.g South or North India. One may comment on the fact that - if not worn the right way - you are wearing it as a lady of the lower casts would. Make sure you get the right instructions. (this is an observation, not a comment on my part )
    Enjoy!
Indian garb is always soooo comfortable and elegant.

    Hope this helps.
