Is it ok for me to wear a sari to my prom?
I can't wear a "dress" because I'm a Muslim but I want to wear a sari I just bought do you think that would be ok? I'm Indian by the way.
AND do you think wearing a sari would attract guys attention, coz well, for me its not a good thing lol but yeah I was just wondering if it would and if guys would find it appealing and I don't wanna go looking like an outcast or anything lol

You wear what you want to. There is nothing that says you have to wear a poofy prom dress. I think it’s lovely and you will definitely be original.

I envy you! I wanted to wear a sari to my prom, but I’m white and I thought people would think it was odd on a white girl. Your sari is gorgeous! If I were a guy I’d love it.

I don’t see why it would be against the rules. But I would be ready to hear a lot of either, "I like your dress!" or get a lot of strange looks. I don’t think they would make you an outcast, just give you looks, and talk that’s all.

Saris are very attractive and I think it would be great to wear it to your prom. It’s elegant enough, but will show that you’re an individual.
I’m sure people will notice, but not because it’s weird or the guys are thinking dirty thoughts, necessarily. Just go and have fun!

If i were you I would definitely wear it. Its far nicer than the standard prom style dress and You would stand out so guys would really notice you for all the right reasons.

that’s really pretty! you’d totally attract me if I was a dude. Plus, hey, proms are for fun, not nessisarily romance. At my prom, I’m going to wear a black bowler hat. It’s a very cute sari and I think you’ll be the belle of the ball.

Wow, what a pretty sari! Since it is a part of your culture, then you should be allowed to wear a sari to your prom. I don’t know what type of school you go to, but it should be allowed, and if not, you should report it or something because that is repressing your culture. As for attracting attention, it might purely because it is something different that the guys might not be used to seeing. Plus, I’m sure you’ll be beautiful in it! You can’t keep people from looking at you, just don’t acknowledge them. You aren’t rying to attract attention, so it sn’t wrong. Good luck and hope this helps!

Of course. Wear what you like. There were about five girls that wore that to our prom last year and if you feel uncomfortable wearing it, ask a friend to wear one too.

A dress would cover more then that sari. It is very pretty but too revealing. If you are Muslim aren’t you suppose to cover yourself up. As for the attraction issue, yeah a guy will be looking at you in a way that your parents would not like.

omg that’s a really nice sari! im brown too and a Muslim but all my other friends wore dresses to their prom?…yea i guess if you feel comfortable ask your friends and see what they think…im my opinion it’s a bit fobbish….have fun!

wear whatever you like.
go for the sari, you could wear a wet suit if you wanted - you don’t have to worry about looking like an outcast.

Sari’s are definitely sexy and classy at the same time. You will absolutely get noticed if you wear the sari in the picture, but in a good way. I think the kind of attention you will get will make you feel good and not uncomfortable. My girlfriend when I was in high school wore a green-silk-midriff chudy dar. A few girls scoffed at her, but I think it was jealousy since they caught their dates checking her out. I thought she looked great and we had a fantastic time. She enjoyed getting shy looks from guys that don’t normally notice her. You know, the kind of looks that say; I never noticed how good looking you were before. I think it will work perfectly for you and you’ll have a great time.
