My daughter’s teen Birthday Party?

I am preparing for my daughter's 13th Birthday Party and Going away Party (because we are movig back home to Washington State).

We went to Vanderbilt College SACE (South Asian Cultural Exchange) DiWali (Celebration of Lights) concert. Now her seeing all the beautiful sarees she has changed her mind from a prom theme to a Indian (India) Party.

I need to know what all I need to get for her to have a wonderful and unforgetable Birthday.

I also need to know what the name of the mens/boys traditional party clothing is called.
REMEMBER the theme is India....

If anyone can help me I would appreciate it very much.

Thank you

    SARI (not sarees)

lots of rich dark colors … pillows on the flower … candles, music …
have someone come and do heni for the girls … or get a kit and DIY if you are artistic.

do fun make up with the jewels around the eyebrows …
set up a backdrop for pictures …
maybe rent a bollywood movie …

The Sherwani : a coat like garment, worn by men, fitted close to the body, of knee-length or longer and opening in front with button-fastenings. Below the men wear a garment for the lower part of the body, baggy and wide at the top tied with a string at the waist , and tight around the legs and ankles. It is avery elegant dress for the men and mostly worn during ceremonies.

The Lungi : The traditional lungi originated in the south and today it is worn by men and women alike. It is simply a short length of material worn around the thighs rather like a sarong.

Decorate the place with lots of cushions
have a VIP section for her and her closest buds
    serve some Indian dishes

maybe you can rent or find one of those long chairs and find 4 strong boys to carry her in like an Indian Princess:)

It sounds like you are a very nice mom making this an unforgetable party

please pass this one on to anyone who you may think would like it

This site describes an Amazing Race party plan that is great for a birthday party, sleepovers, scavenger hunt, etc and is designed for kids aged 13 – 18. The “legs” of the Amazing Race party plan sell on eBay quite cheap (like $5). Good Luck!
