My Indian/Hindu inspired fashion sense annoys some people?

I am fascinated with Indian culture, and sometimes I wear an Indian-inspired wardrobe (saris, bindis, etc.) I am white, but I have a tremendous amount of respect for Indian culture. This annoys people where I live. They say it's offensive to the culture and that I should just dress "like a normal person". It's just how I express myself. Would this offend you?

No this would not offend me, why should it offend anyone? It’s no ones business what you wear. I also think the women of india dress beautifully. You keep wearing just what you want to wear.

You could be seen as "stealing" their culture. Even though you respect it.

they may interpret it as mocking their culture even if that’s not your intention

You should just ignore those people and dress as you like. You have a right to self expression just like anyone else; and if some people don’t like it then they can just go take a hike.

Why would you want to even think of wearing what those ‘things’ wear? Yes, it would offend me - take pride in being white, why copy there ways?

    Sieg Heil.

I agree why would it be offensive to anyone? It’s more like a compliment if anything. I, too love Indian traditional dress. The beautiful sari’s are rainbows of colour. They must be very ignorant people and I suggest you ignore them. I’m sure Indians wear Western clothing which we don’t find offensive. They just haven’t got the fashion sense or creativity to pull off Indian clothing

Hey you didn’t say if it is Indians or whites that are annoyed!!!! so which is it?

I’d love to see more women in those outfits, they are so feminine BUT I can easily see how a person from that culture would be offended, and I can imagine people jumping to the conclusion that you are trying to be something you are not.

I sometimes see this woman in full Islamic Berka. She is white, and I think "what is she hiding from in there? why did she give up her identity to become something else?"

I am an Indian and Hindu, I appreciate your respect my culture, you even though a white has so much respect for our culture on the other hand those children of India immigrants in western countries are so ashamed of their own heritage, maybe that’s why they don’t like you, don’t care about them. Here in India I see many white tourists in Indian outfits, they look beautiful.
