OC&g:Why did the Chinese, Vietnamese and other East Asians steal the style of clothing from Indians?
they steal the designs of the Sari, Kurta and salwar kameez to name a few.

Stealling? You are crazy to say like that. It’s influented by culture not a stealing. China is also a very old country in the world. I don’t think clothing of China has been influented by Indian. The Vietnamese dress is not Indian style but Chinese. If Cambodian, Burmi, Thai, Lao, Malay, Indonesia, the countries in South Asia…..yes they have.
One more Kurta is not original from India. It’r from the middle est. Read wikipedia.

It happens all the time. Many English words came from the Spainish language and all religions came from other religions.

It’s not stealing if they buy the product. The U.S. has invented many things that the world uses but they don’t belong to the U.S. they belong to the individual’s who buy those things.

The Vietnamese dress is called the ao dai. They didn’t steal the idea from Indians. It was influence from traditional clothing worn by Chinese aristocrats.

As for the Chinese, they have always had that traditional dress. It was not taken from the Indians. Similarities are just coincidental.

The salwar kameez comes from arabs and the sari is from the greek toga.
Old school India wore a strap of cloth across the chest and a wrap another strip of cloth around the hips that’s all.
India has been influenced by many outside cultures they got the turban, nose ring and kajal eyeliner from the Arabs. The Taj Mahal is Classic Arab architecture.
