What should a woman wear to an Indian wedding?

I'm going to India this August for my friends' wedding. I'm so excited but have no idea what to wear! My friend suggests that I wear traditional Indian attire, but I don't know if I should go with a saree (it's got a skirt, midriff-bearing top and sort of a sash that goes over the shoulder) or salwar kameez (sort of a pantsuit with a fancy long tunic-type top and pants). Thanks in advance!

Indian weddings involve a lot of singing and dancing. It is perhaps difficult to wear a saree (for a newbie) and dance. For this reason alone, I would recommend a salwar-kameez. There is also a third very popular option - a ghagra-choli (An Indian version of a skirt and a top).

if youre friend is Indian, then you should listen to her.

if she’s white, i wouldnt take her word for it

either one works…I personally feel that foreigners look good in Salwar Kameez. By the way…India isn’t as "conservative" as the media/movies make it seem….Especially in places like mumbai and delhi (maybe in villages)…But ya i reccomend a salwar kameez. I’m sure you can google and find more answers…good luck!

I am so excited you will attend your friend’s wedding party. I think you’d better wear the Indian attire,or you can ask your Indian friends for the suggestion. You can also wear a necklace,it will be very nice. Freshwater Pearl Earrings Necklace Bracelet Set,this type is good match for dress. You can visit this link: http://www.ebest24.com/en/freshwater-pearl-earrings-necklace-bracelet-set.html. If it can’t work, you can visit the website: http://www.ebest24.com. THE DRESS YOU WEAR DEPENDS ON THE FAMILY ORGANIZING THE WEDDING… IF THEY ARE TOO CONSERVATIVE, DRESS ACCORDINGLY…OR YOU CAN DRESS ANY WAY U LIKE..

THE POINT IS JUST BE COMFORTABLE AND TRY NOT TO LOOK GAUDIER THAN THE BRIDE..
