What should I wear to a Indian Wedding?

OK - so here's the deal. One of my close friends is getting married this summer. It is a traditional Indian wedding. She bought me a blue Sari to wear for the ceremony. Can I wear this at the reception too?

And as for the other events before (Ganesh Sthapan, Mandava Muhurat, Pithi, Grah Shanti, Raas Garba) What should I wear to those? Like a pant suit? Or comfy jeans? Or do I need to stick with dresses/skirts? Is there a color I should avoid for those events? I know no red or black for the ceremony - but that's obviously been taken care of.

I keep asking her to let me know so I can start buying outfits now but she's really busy and wont get back to me plus she lives in another state so I dont exactly see her often. I dont want to wait till the last minute to shop and I want to be dressed appropriatly. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

i will not recommend you anything like jeans or suit, skirts or dresses or any western outfit…go traditional u will njoy it…like lahenga, or chooridaar and kurta and saree. choose chooridaar and kurta for lighter ceremonies for main ceremony wear saree or lahenga…if u r wearing blue saree in main wedding ceremony go for lahenga for reception…i wld say dnt repeat the clothes. For raas garba u can wear those gujrati chaniya choli , if you dnt find that the wear lahenga in raas garba u will njoy the garba more in that. If u feel u can buy lahengaswith lesswork to minimize the cost.

Dnt forget the traditional accessories like bangles and bindi may be a lil one and jhumkas(dangler earrings) and matching necklaces

sarees looks gud with long heavy stone earrings and no necklace…thats in now a days and is stylish
